There are a few different ways to get from Seattle to Seaside. For the best views, we recommend taking the coastal approach along Highway 101. Follow Interstate 5 from Seattle and pick up Highway 101 near Olympia. From here, you will drive west until you reach the coast and then follow the coastline the rest of the way to Seaside.

Stop 1: Olympia
Hit the road early and leave Seattle by 7 am. Make your first stop in Olympia after an hour on the road. Stretch your legs at Brewery Park at Tumwater Falls or Squaxin Park. If you haven’t had your morning coffee yet, we recommend stopping at Olympia Coffee Roasting.
Stop 2: Aberdeen
Drive west from Olympia towards the Washington Coast and make your next stop in Aberdeen. Aberdeen is famous for being the hometown of Kurt Cobain. See the house where the famous singer grew up and visit the Kurt Cobain Under the Bridge Memorial.
Stop 3: Westport (Short Detour)
Take a short detour and explore the coastal town of Westport. Discover the city’s rich maritime heritage and climb the Westport Viewing Tower for panoramic views of Grays Harbor and the rugged coast. Then, stop for a delicious seafood lunch at Blue Buoy!
Stop 4: Long Beach
If you don’t want to take the detour to Westport, you can stop in Long Beach instead. Or stop at both, it’s up to you! Stroll along the Long Beach Boardwalk for exceptional views of the coast. Then, head to Marsh’s Free Museum to pick out a one-of-a-kind souvenir!
Please keep in mind that the Long Beach Boardwalk is currently closed for renovations and will be reopening in March 2026.
Stop 5: Astoria
Cross the Washington border into Oregon and stop in Astoria. Visit the Astoria Column for incredible sightseeing. Stop at Fort Stevens State Park and see the remnants of the Peter Iredale shipwreck. And if you are hungry, we recommend grabbing a bite to eat at Bowpicker Fish & Chips.
Arrive in Seaside, Oregon
