Know Before You Go
Before kayaking in Oregon, make sure you are prepared for your day on the water. Our waterways are tidally influenced, so please check our tide tables before going out. As a rule of thumb, you’ll want to kayak at or near high tide. We also encourage you to read our kayaking etiquette guide to learn how to paddle our waters safely!
Necanium River
If you are looking for a quick paddle near the hotel, we recommend heading to Quatat Park. This park is home to a half-mile stretch of the Necanium River, from the 1st Avenue Bridge to the Avenue G Bridge. Reserve a kayak from Wheel Fun Rentals and enjoy a leisurely paddle along the shoreline.
Neawanna River
Access the scenic Neawanna River from the ADA-accessible kayak launch at Broadway Park. Paddle south along the river towards the Ave S. bridge before turning around back towards Broadway Park. Or continue paddling into the greater Necanicum Estuary for a longer adventure.
Necanicum Estuary
Necanicum Estuary is a designated conservation estuary and a gateway to Seaside’s coastal environment. Access the estuary from the 12th Ave. Bridge and keep your eyes peeled for local wildlife like bald eagles, peregrine falcons, river otters, osprey, and blue herons. It’s best to plan your paddle during high tide since some estuary areas are too shallow to paddle during low tide.
Sunset Lake
Enjoy a calm paddle on Sunset Lake on Sunset Beach Lake in Warrenton. This lake is great for a calm and scenic kayaking adventure, offering fantastic views and bird-watching opportunities.
