Oregon Coast Highway 101
Stretching nearly 400 miles along the Pacific, Oregon Coast Highway 101 is one of the most spectacular drives in the country. But, beyond the incredible ocean and mountain views lies a terrifying legend of the bandage man. First spotted in the 1950s, the bandage man reportedly resembles a mummy and smells of rotting flesh. Some folks have spotted the bandage man in the back of their vehicles while driving the highway. Drive down Highway 101 near Cannon Beach, and keep your eyes open for the bandage man!
Battery Russel at Fort Stevens
Once an active military base protecting the Columbia River during WWII, Fort Stevens State Park in Astoria is home to its fair share of ghostly encounters. Near the Battery Russel, visitors have spotted the ghost of a fallen soldier still patrolling the grounds in his uniform. Also, within the park, you can see the remnants of the Peter Iredale shipwreck.
Tillamook Rock Lighthouse “Terrible Tilly”
Plagued by tragedy, Tillamook Rock Lighthouse earned its ominous nickname, Terrible Tilly, after a series of disasters and dangerous working conditions. Danger began almost immediately, with a mason surveying the area dying before construction began. As if the environmental conditions weren’t challenging enough, many lighthouse keepers also reported paranormal encounters where they heard moans and saw ghost ships. Today, the lighthouse is inaccessible but can be seen from the Tillamook Head Trail in Ecola State Park.
